Major Grant Funds New Computer Lab at the Center
Through the generosity of the David Bohnett Foundation, the Desert Pride Community Center
has been gifted a complete state-of-the-art computer lab. The David Bohnett Cyber Centers,
located in 54 cities throughout the U.S., offer free access to the Internet and computer
classes for the traditionally underserved LGBT community. The Cyber Centers also serve as
a hub for educational opportunities for seniors and youth. The mission is to provide
software training, classes and Internet access inside a comfortable, informal environment.
In 1994 David Bohnett founded GeoCities, an Internet-based media and e-commerce company.
It was subsequently sold to Yahoo in 1999. The Foundation was created with a large portion
of the 260 million dollars earned in the sale and has funded a number of projects supporting
the LGBT community throughout the United States.
David Bohnett and the David Bohnett Foundation are committed to improving society through
social activism. They pursue their mission by providing funding, state-of-the-art technology
and technical support to innovative organizations and institutions that, in addition to
meeting their funding guidelines, share their vision.
The Center is honored to be a part of the DBF legacy. The David Bohnett Cyber Center's
opened with a grand opening celebration on March 1, 2008.
